Multi-purpose terminal planning,
Ireland
Visualisation of a project at an early stage is an important
tool for both the port planner and for port operators. Mott
MacDonald uses 3D modelling as a concept design tool from the
earliest stages of a project, allowing for a clear interpretation
of the potential impacts, conflicts and advantages of any given
scheme.
Cruise ship terminal design in the
CaribbeanThree dimensional visualisation brings to life
conventional 2D drawings which are often difficult to envisage in a
real world environment. Models can incorporate just a single detail
or an entire port scheme.
Scenes can be provided as still images to include in documents or
presentations. And animated ‘fly-through’ style movies can be
exported in many different formats for viewing on PCs, Macs or for
mounting online.
Quick time virtual reality (QTVR) is a format which allows the user
to control the view from a fixed location or orbit around a fixed
object. We've used QTVR technology to aid in the design of a port
control tower, allowing the project team to ‘see’ what was visible
from the first officer’s station.
