Mott MacDonald owns and operates wave analysis modules from
DHI’s MIKE 21 – the industry standard for numeric hydraulic
modelling.
Using MIKE 21, our maritime experts can define inshore waves from
readily available offshore wind or wave information. These inshore
waves can then be traced around breakwaters or into harbours to
investigate diffraction and harbour resonance. Our models are able
to use a range of wave spectra from plane regular waves to a fully
random sea.
Recent examples of our key numerical modelling projects include:
- Wave translation study, Rossaveel, Ireland
- Harbour disturbance model, Jamaica
- Developments at Rothesay Harbour, Ullapool and at Torness,
Scotland using the MIKE 21 'NSW', 'EMS' and 'BW' modules to assess
wave conditions in sheltered waters.
