Mott MacDonald's experts have a strong reputation for their
innovative designs of specialist marine structures, created for the
transfer of bulk materials between ocean going vessels and onshore
storage and handling facilities. The efficient handling of bulk
materials at port facilities is often crucial to the viability of
many trading arrangements.
Offshore berths are suited most to facilities dealing in a single
commodity. Onshore stockpiles, storage sheds or silos are connected
to the wharf by a conveyor system along an approach jetty. We have
designed berth facilities up to six kilometres from the
shore.
A close relationship between conveyors, storage, loading and
unloading systems maximises the efficient operation of each
individual system. Mott MacDonald’s integrated design approach
coordinates all aspects of the materials handling system
including:
- Conveyors and storage systems
- Road and rail unloaders
- Storage facilities
- Stacking reclaimers
- Vessel unloaders
- Ship loaders
Through our network of specialist advisors and teams on all
continents we're able to provide a complete planning and
engineering design service for such facilities including the
specification and design of materials handling systems.
